We decided to make a little blog so you can follow our honeymoon adventure! We won't be able to use our phones in South Africa but there is wifi so we are trying out this whole blog deal!
The day started out a little sad...we had to say goodbye to our sweet 7 puppies and their momma, Meka because they won't be there when we get home. As sad as we are to see them leave, we are also really happy that they are all going to loving, forever homes! Saying bye to Meka was the hardest part - and we both had "Hachi" style sobbing moments. We both really bonded with her and will miss her terribly but know she will be happy in Blacksburg with grandma + grandpa and Mick!
After an uneventful day of flying from Houston from Reno, we got our bags and headed to United to check in for our flight to Johannesburg via Sao Paulo, Brazil. We were completely unaware that we needed a VISA to enter Brazil since our 16 hour layover - yea, it's absurd - meant we would have to get our bags, go through immigration, recheck in and go through security and back through immigration!! Holy heart attack!! Luckily, a nice lady at United's ticket counter (a rarity at United) found a way around it and got our bags on an earlier flight from Sao Paulo to Johannesburg. Of course, we still have to take our original flight and hang out in the airport but at least we won't get lost in South America! Then again, that could have been an interesting side adventure ;)
We are hanging on by a thread waiting for our flight to Sao Paulo...At least they have cookies in the United lounge ;)
Should I call United for you? Give me your tag numbers and next destination contact. I'm SUPER pissed off with United. The worst F#%<N airline IN THE WORLD. Even Consumer Reports magazine confirms!
