We met the family that we
will be sharing the safari truck with for the rest of our drives at Phinda. We love them!
They are ex-pats, living in Singapore with their 2 kiddos and they
actually had their honeymoon in Africa 15 years ago so we share a lot of the
same experiences, which is very cool!
We started our drive like
every drive we’ve had so far – looking for a leopard…

However, we did find some
cheetahs having their breakfast!

this part!**
There are 3 cubs chowing down on a baby Impala that Mom caught. The cubs are
about 7-8 months old so they still can't hunt on their own.
Doesn't Momma look happy?! She is giving us a little smile for the camera :)
Momma will keep a look out for other predators while her babies eat. Cheetahs are very protective of their young so if a lion or other big cat smells their kill and walks up on them, Mom will stand up to it while the babies run away and then she will try to make her escape.

Dumi said she is the female cub and the other two are males. She is a lot smaller than the other guys...
We let them finish their breakfast and headed back to the road...We saw a few more giraffes! They are so funny because they will just stare at you and not move a muscle. I'm pretty sure they think we can't see them if they are still ;)

We sat in the back row of the truck to let the family get the money seats for their first safari ride! It was actually really cool sitting in the back because the seats are similar to stadium seating so we could really see a lot! It was a bumpier ride and we got some air a few times :)
Expert tracker in training over here! They went that-a-way...
Thulani and Dumi got us some green monkey oranges - but we couldn't try them because they are pretty solid!
On our way back to the lodge for some breakfast and we saw some more zebra!
We had another eventful breakfast! Definitely not as terrifying as yesterday's, thats for sure!!
There are monkeys that hang around the lodge and will try to steal your food off your plate while you are eating! They are pretty smart, and very fast!! This guys is scoping our table out. He is literally right above us!
They run along the roof of the lodge to the other trees, or they will just jump onto a table from there as well! I should have known when I kept getting photos of this monkey looking at us that he was planning on raiding our table!
On the look out for the rangers because they have slingshots and they will shoot little pebbles at the monkeys when they are stealing food! Too funny!
Plotting his move but making sure the ranger isn't close by! When the coast was clear, this little stinker jumped onto the porch and ran straight to our table so fast I almost didn't even see his little monkey hands reach into the bread basket and steal one of Garth's biscuits!! I can't wait to see what happens at tomorrows breakfast!
Gosh they are so stinking cute!! I can't even be mad at these little biscuit thieves! This little baby is getting groomed by Momma monkey!
It kind of looks like he was sucking his thumb!
